Emergency exercises provide a controlled atmosphere in which to evaluate emergency response procedures, identify gaps, and implement corrective actions before an emergency occurs. Exercises range in complexity from simple orientation seminars or tabletop exercises to complex, full-scale simulations. When carefully planned to achieve specific objectives and goals, exercises are an important element of emergency preparedness.

To plan and facilitate an emergency exercise, Department Operations Center (DOC) coordinators and others may request assistance from the Office of Emergency Management (OEM).
