High Heat Work Advisory: 7/2-7/6/2024

The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a heat advisory for 7/2/2024 – 7/6/2024 as Bay Area temperatures are expected to reach the mid-upper 90s this week.

Because of the expected conditions, managers should encourage precautionary measures and have proactive discussions with employees.

Possible solutions to minimizing heat exposure include:
Working from a location with air conditioning,
Telecommuting, and/ or
Working during cooler time(s) of the day.

Employees with medical concerns should consult their personal physician for any health-related recommendation while working during a heat wave. Staff who are unable to work should consult with their HR Manager.

For more information on heat illness prevention strategies, review the EH&S General Heat Illness Prevention information page. Outdoor workers should work with their supervisor to follow their unit’s heat illness prevention plan. Contact EH&S for additional information.

Please take care of your personal health and stay alert to the needs of those around you.

Staying hydrated is particularly important during a heat wave. Drink plenty of water and encourage your colleagues to do the same. Where possible, wear lightweight clothing which can also increase your comfort during excessive heat.
