Almost all construction projects require interaction with and guidance from Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) staff. EHS supports construction projects from start to finish. Beginning with code consultation in the early programming and schematic design phases, identification of areas where asbestos or lead may be present in existing buildings before demolition begins, and continues with design elements and code requirements for renovations and new construction, to the outfitting of new spaces with earthquake restraints for equipment or ensuring that fire protection systems function properly prior to occupancy. EHS plays an important role in ensuring that designers, construction crews and new building occupants all receive excellent support in their roles and that construction projects meet Stanford’s high standards of excellence. If you are involved in construction projects at Stanford, we are here to support you.
