Fire extinguishers are the first line of personal defense against fire at Stanford University. There are thousands of extinguishers located throughout the campus. Do you know how to safely use a fire extinguisher? If not, each year the Stanford Fire Marshal’s Office offers the opportunity for free hands-on training in the safe use of fire extinguishers.
The training includes a short presentation that will help you:
- Understand the combustion process;
- Identify the different classifications of fire; and
- Understand fire extinguisher types, operating procedures, capabilities, and limitations.
Each participant will get the opportunity to use an extinguisher to extinguish an actual fire.
