How to Use
Principal Investigators (PI)/laboratory supervisors or their designees carry out laboratory-specific training that covers chemical hazards and emergency procedures in the laboratory. In addition, lab personnel may need specialized training to operate lab-owned equipment. PIs should use a combination of the following to develop training:
- Review individual Laboratory Safety Plan
- Review local/building safety information
- Review Standard Operating Procedure(s) (SOPs) for hazardous chemicals
- Other lab-specific training on safety procedures or hazards in the lab environment
PIs can use this template to develop a lab-specific training handout and to document the training. After reviewing the training goals in the left-hand column, describe in the right-hand column how your lab fulfills these goals.
