Radiation Equipment and Facility Termination Survey

Owners

When a lab no longer needs a piece of equipment, has broken equipment, or will no longer be using radioactive material, a thorough survey must be done of all equipment once used with radioactive material.

If you need this service performed, contact your Health Physicist or Health Physics at (650) 723-3201. The lab must first complete a final room survey. Radiation equipment and facilities should be cleaned and ready before the terminal survey is conducted.

A Safety and Compliance member will come to your lab, perform the required survey, review the results, then place a sticker on the equipment, assuring that it is clean and free of radioactive contamination. If contamination is found, you will be contacted about decontamination. A second survey will be performed after decontamination is complete.
